My 100 Things

Well, since I haven't been very busy at work lately, I had time to compile my list of 100 things in the last couple of days.
In other news, we got all moved in about 2 hours on Saturday, so it went really smoothly. We're still trying to locate a few things, but for the most part we're getting settled. I love the new place! :) It takes me exactly 2 minutes to drive from home to my work, and 4 to Troy's. It's great! And yesterday Troy worked first shift, so we got to spend our whole evening together. It was so wonderful! We got dinner and then did a quick nine holes of golf, and then went home to get some more unpacking done. :)
Now, for the list...

100 things about me

1. My faith and relationship with God is the most important thing in my life.
2. My husband and our relationship is a very close second… I love him sooo much.
3. Sometimes I get the 2 of those in the wrong order – and then I tend to mess things all up.
4. I also love my family VERY MUCH – but sometimes lately I feel that I am overlooked by them.
5. My family consists of my parents, 2 older sisters and an older brother, plus their spouses. I’m the baby of the family.
6. I also have 3 nieces by my oldest sister and her husband, and my brother and his wife are expecting their first any day.
7. My other sister has never been able to conceive, and is now in the process of adopting a baby girl from China. I’m ecstatic for my sister and BIL, and I can’t wait to meet my next niece.
8. I have wonderful in-laws, and sometimes feel more accepted by them than my own family.
9. Troy has 2 brothers, he’s the middle child. His older brother is engaged & they’re getting married next July. His little brother is single and a cutie – if anyone has a younger sister that’s available… :)
10. My job as Human Resources Assistant is sometimes quite possibly the most boring job in the world. Then some days I’m so busy I almost go crazy. But I have the BEST BOSS in the world, so I can't complain.
11. I’m also the back-up for the person who does the wire transfers at our bank. I’ve wired money to places like Serbia, Mexico, Finland, & Jordan.
12. I’m listening to James Blunt’s “You’re Beautiful” right now. I love that song, for some reason. 13. I love to play the piano. I took lessons from when I was 7 years old until I was a Freshman in college. I’m still not very good.
14. I also sing. I sang with my family in church my whole life, and now I also sing duets with Troy a lot, and in the church choir, and in other people’s weddings. We sang in our own wedding, and I made it through without crying, but almost everyone else in the church was.
15. We didn’t get a video of the whole wedding ceremony, and I’ll always kick myself for that.
16. I love my cat, Allie, but she loves Troy more than she loves me. Brat!
17. We also have the cutest new kitten in the world! – a 5 week old kitten that we just got on Saturday. We named her Isi (Izzie), which WAS going to be short for Isaiah, but “he” turned out to be a “she,” so Isi it is. :)
18. We also have a beta fish named Butch.
19. I was born and raised in Wisconsin, and I love it here, but I’d also love to get away. Contrary to popularbelief, Wisconsin has more than just beer-drinking, cheese-eating, red-neck German farmers. I’m not saying I’m not one of them… Ha ha.
20. Saturday we moved to a house that was built around 1900. It’s a duplex, and we’re living in the upper unit, and it’s super cozy and cute. (in my opinion:)
21. I’m a lot more excited about this place than I was the last time we moved, because last time we were moving away from our first apartment together, and I was surviving on 2 hours of sleep. It was not a happy day.
22. I would love to buy a house, but we don’t know how long we’re going to be in the area after Troy graduates.
23. We would also love to have a dog, but they are not very compatible with apartment dwelling. Someday we will.
24. We’ve been trying to conceive since July 2005. We’ve always wanted kids – we talked about it since we were dating.
25. I always wanted 4, but at this rate, I think I’ll be happy if I can have one.
26. I’m nervous about going on clomid, but I want to start the ball rolling toward being able to have children.
27. We’ve talked a lot about adoption since we haven’t been able to conceive, and since my sister and BIL started their adoption. We will definitely adopt someday – but we would still like to have a biological child.
28. I’ve also considered foster-care, but I’m not sure I’m strong enough to do that.
29. I love kids. I teach the Pee-Wee club (3-6 years old) every Wednesday night at church, and love them. They are so much fun!
30. Troy and I also work with the youth group at church. He teaches Sunday School, and I help. We love to have them over to our place for nights of games and pizza.
31. Becoming a mother also kind of terrifies me (note the above reference to the youth group!).
32. I love being married. It’s just awesome being married to your soul-mate.
33. We got married on August 9, 2003, and it was so freaking hot because my church doesn’t have air conditioning.
34. Other than that (and the lack of being video recorded) the day was PERFECT. I’d love to do it all over again.
35. I love Victoria’s Secret Heavenly perfume.
36. I love Bath & Body lotion – I always have to have some kind of lotion on my hands or I go crazy.
37. I also love candles - I always have at least one burning whenever I’m home.
38. My best friend growing up – until about 6th grade – was my cousin Bethany. We’re still close, but have changed a lot. She just got married and moved to Virginia in June.
39. My best friend after 6th grade is still one of my best friends. She just moved to Arizona.
40. I’m seeing a trend here. I hope Troy doesn’t move anywhere anytime soon. At least not without me :)
41. Sometimes I think I’m so much like my mom it’s scary, but I love my mom, and she’s one of the sweetest people I know, so I guess it’s okay.
42. It stinks not being able to get pregnant when you want to.
43. But it teaches you a lot too.
44. I have freckles – but they’re not as noticeable as they were when I was little. Unlike a lot of girls, I always liked them.
45. Unlike my freckles, I never liked my nose. It’s too round and it wiggles when I think hard about things. It makes Troy laugh.
46. I’m not even half way done with this and I think I’m running out of things to say. I must be a boring person. ;)
47. I graduated from a Christian college with an Associate’s degree in Church Ministries, with the hope of being able to use the things I learned in the church that Troy pastors at someday.
48. I learned a lot, but I would also have liked to go to school for a lot of other things.
49. To name a few… Early Childhood Education, Office Administration, and Nursing would probably top the list.
50. I like the smell of Scotch tape. And gas (the car kind, silly). I’m weird.
51. When I’m bored, I tend to sigh, or yawn. It’s kind of a dead give-away. Oops.
52. I can’t dance worth beans. No one has seen me really try except Troy. And maybe my sister.
53. I just lost my hairstylist, who has cut my hair since my Jr. year of high school. I haven’t had my hair cut since she moved a couple of months ago. :(
54. I’ve never had a professional pedicure, manicure, facial, or massage. Mind you, not because I wouldn’t like to, it just hasn’t been a priority/necessity.
55. I’m not really a very high-maintenance person.
56. However I do go tanning. I love being tan, but not to an extreme, and just in the summer. My job and the Wisconsin weather make it rather hard to get and keep a good tan naturally.
57. I love to run. I just made my 3-mile goal this summer, but I’ve been slacking off for the past couple of weeks trying to get ready for the move.
58. I got the Presidential Physical Fitness Award all 4 years of high school.
59. I also played Volleyball and Soccer in high school. I miss playing sports.
60. I do play golf on occasion with Troy. I’m terrible. :)
61. There is a history of cancer in my family. My Grandpa G died of it, and my Grandma G had a tumor in her back that she had removed last summer, and it’s now completely gone.
62. She’s an incredible lady. She’s 83, and just got married again last summer. I love my new “Grandpa.”
63. My Grandpa & Grandma C have been married over 60 years, and are also some of the sweetest people you’d ever meet. Picture-perfect grandparents.
64. I have over 30 cousins on each side of my family (over 60 total) – I’ve lost track of exactly how many. My aunt is due any day with what will probably be the last grandchild on the G side.
65. I consider myself to be a pretty laid-back person, easy to please. I hope other people consider me to be that way too.
66. I like to cook, when I have the time. I often get stuck in a rut, though.
67. Troy likes my cooking, which I’m pretty happy about. I didn’t cook at all before we got married, but I did bake.
68. I used to make him his very own batch of chocolate chip cookies when we were dating.
69. I’m hungry for chocolate chip cookies. :)
70. When we were in high school, we weren’t allowed to “date” until we were Juniors (school rules – strict private school)… so we wrote long, super-sappy notes everyday. It sucked that we couldn’t date, but I think that helped us to learn to communicate beyond just our everyday happenings.
71. I still have all of Troy’s notes. He still has most of mine. (He tends to lose things :)
72. He was an incredibly jealous boyfriend in high school. It almost led to break-ups several times. I’m glad we worked through it, though, because we probably wouldn’t have gotten back together.
73. He still tends to be a bit of a jealous husband, but now he’s a lot more mature.
74. Wow, our relationship has changed a lot since high school.
75. I HATE centipedes. They creep me out. I’m really hoping there aren’t any at the new house – I haven’t seen any yet.
76. I love getting dressed up and made up to go out. It makes me feel all pretty and girly.
77. I live for weekends. I suspect I am not alone in this sentiment.
78. My name is pronounced Cherry – like the fruit – not Sherry, Jerry, Terry, or any of the other things that I’ve gotten my whole life.
79. I love my name, but sometimes I get tired of explaining it. “Yes, it’s Cherie – like the fruit. No, it’s spelled C-H-E-R-I-E. One R. No, no Y.” Sigh
80. My parents were going to name me Cherith, but then they read the story in the Bible about the brook that the prophet Elijah went to, and it dried up. They didn’t like it so much after they read that. So it became Cherie.
81. My favorite dessert in the entire world is cheesecake.
82. Consequently, one of my favorite restaurants is the Cheesecake Factory.
83. My mom used to make cheesecake for my birthday cake and put candles in it. She was the best. With what on it? Cherries, of course!
84. I love the color pink.
85. Troy has gone to school and worked second shift for all of our almost 3 years of married life except the first couple of months, and summers he’s not in school, but still works 2nd shift.
86. I take his supper to his work and eat with him almost every night – I don’t know what I’d do without that extra half-hour. We tend to use it to catch up on our days.
87. I can’t wait until he can get a first shift job, and we can have our evenings together. It’s going to feel like a constant vacation.
88. I like doing ceramics. My sister and I used to go every Thursday night and work on projects. We’re currently taking a hiatus.
89. I like making bracelets with crystal beads. I love when people see something that I’ve made and think it’s pretty. :)
90. I also like to crochet. I just learned a couple years ago from Troy’s mom, and that Christmas I made scarves for everyone in my family.
91. I’d love to learn to knit, too, but haven’t had the ambition to do that yet.
92. I love Lipton Green Tea with Orange & Passion Fruit. I'm drinking it right now.
93. I was home-schooled by my mom – with my brother and sister – until I went into 6th grade. My brother and I made the decision to start regular school.
94. I loved home-schooling, but I wanted more interaction with kids my age, and I also wanted to be able to participate in sports and other extra-curricular things.
95. My mom was a GREAT teacher – and I’m not just saying that. She still is.
96. I may consider home-schooling my kids for a couple years someday… we’ll see.
97. I love Friends. It was the best show ever. I also love Gilmore Girls, Smallville, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, and What Not to Wear, among others.
98. And Beauty and the Beast was the best Disney movie ever.
99. Let’s see… I’ve focused a lot on what I do like, what about some things I don’t… I don’t like watermelon, swimming in lakes, freezing cold temperatures, dogs that jump up and slobber all over you, green olives, talking to people who don’t listen, cigarette smoke, Monday mornings, mornings at work in general, losing reception on my phone, lace curtains, when my computer crashes and I was in the middle of something, doing dishes, when people cut down my husband, and math… how’s that for a random list?
100. And there you go, that’s pretty much me in a nutshell. :)

ttc update and survey

Well, with the help of some prompting after my last post :), I decided to call the Dr. again and see if I could get in to see the infertility specialist anytime soon. Well, to make a long story short, we've decided to try Clomid for a couple of cycles before doing anything else... so we're planning on doing that next cycle if the timing works out... so keep us in your prayers, that this could be it! I'm guardedly hopeful, because my sister was on Clomid for awhile, and ovulating, but it didn't work for them. So for some reason I keep thinking that things are going to be the same for us... but you never know! So that's the next step.
Now, for the survey...
1. How old do you wish you were? I’m pretty much enjoying being 23 for now!
2. Where were you when 9/11 happened? My second hour college class – O.T. History… we didn’t know exactly what happened until a couple hours later, and they called a special prayer time for the situation.
3. What do you do when vending machines steal your money? Get mad! Talk to someone working there, if I can!
4. Do you consider yourself kind? I try to be – however, I’m not as thoughtful as I wish I was. I’m working on that!

Another Friday Post

Okay, so it seems that I like posting on Fridays, for some reason! :) I think it's just totally coincidence, but it seems like I do have more time at work on Fridays. I would like to post more often, but when I'm at work, I don't want to spend too much time on the internet, and we don't have internet at home, so therein lies the problem! ...So here I am again, on Friday. Yay for Fridays! Troy is getting off work early again tonight, which I'm VERY EXCITED about, so we're going to cook steaks and have a nice sit-down dinner at home. This is a very rare thing for us, because with him working 2nd shift, we don't ever get to have a nice dinner during the week, and on weekends a lot of times we're on the go, or at one of the parents' houses for dinner. So it should be great - maybe I'll even light some candles! :)
We're getting close to being done with the new place. I got all the painting done in the kitchen, and he's been working on putting in the laminate-wood flooring. It looks awesome - especially compared to what it looked like before! We're kicking ourselves for not taking “before” pictures, but we'll definitely get the “after” ones. So now we just have to finish painting bedroom and bathroom ceilings, and the hallway, and we should be done. I've been taking a few boxes over there, too, and I even brought our cat, Allie over for a couple of hours when I was there the other night. :) She did okay with it - she was definitely curious about the place, but it will take her a little while to get used to it, I'm sure, as with all animals when they move. :)
I haven't posted anything recently about the ttc front, mostly because we haven't been pursuing anything. I'm still charting, and not ovulating, but the next step is a visit to the Fertility Specialist or RE, and I have yet to get that referral from my OB and set up the appointment. It's not that I don't want to, because I really do, but I think part of me is still hoping that things will just magically happen on their own. Crazy, I know, when it's been a year, and nothing has happened. But I think it's a matter of actually accepting the fact that I am indeed infertile, and this isn't going to go away on its own. It's a hard thing to accept. Another thing hit me the other day that next year at this time I'll be the only one of the 4 of us kids that doesn't have my own kids yet. My oldest sister Amy has 3 adoreable girls, my other sister Melissa (the one that I've mentioned who has never been able to conceive) is in the process of adopting a little girl from China, and they're hoping to have her home by next spring/early summer, and then my brother Caleb, whose wife is about ready to pop with their first. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely excited for them, but it's definitely not going to be easy for Troy and I being the only ones without a baby in our arms.
*sigh*
I have to make that Dr's appointment, that's all there is to it. Maybe we'll be one of those lucky couples that gets pg after one round of Clomid.
Wouldn't that be nice?

50. WHEN AND WHERE WERE YOU BORN? November 29, 1982 in Hartford, WI
51. WHAT IS THE MOST ROMANTIC THING SOMEONE HAS DONE FOR YOU? Our engagement was INCREDIBLY romantic, but one other night that really stands out in my memory is when Troy and I were dating, and I was in college full-time, and working about 35 hours a week, and he was working full-time, we usually only saw each other on the weekends. Well, I was having a really hard week, and one night when I had gotten home from work at about 11:30 PM, he called me up and told me to come over. I had no idea what was going on, but I went over to his house, where he had a candlelight “dinner” of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches all made for us. It was too cute.
